Honolulu Ocean Safety Responds To Group Trapped On Island

On October 29th, around 1:00 p.m., Honolulu Ocean Safety co-responded with the Honolulu Fire Department to three adults, one male and two females, who were in a dangerous location on the backside of Moku Nui, the larger of the two Mokulua Islands, Ocean Safety responded via jet ski and made contact with the patients. After assessing the patients medically, Ocean Safety made contact with HFD to assist with the air evacuation of the patients to a park in Lanikai. The three people were uninjured. The surf was said to be 10 feet on the backside of the islands. Lifeguards recovered the groups kayak and surfboard and brought both back to shore. The group had recently moved to the islands. Ocean Safety wants to remind the public to call 911 immediately when you or others may be in trouble in the ocean or along the shoreline.
