Honolulu Ocean Safety Rescues Two Visitors Off of Spitting Caves

March 28, 2023

Honolulu Ocean Safety responded to two swimmers in distress off of Spitting Caves. The 911 call came in just before 6:00 p.m. Two males, an 18 and 19-years old, jumped off the roughly 60-foot cliffside and were struggling to stay above water. At the time of the incident it was raining and windy. Lifeguards via jet ski responded and rescued both visitors. Ocean Safety brought them to shore safely and without injury. Ocean Safety reminds visitors and residents alike to know your limits in the ocean and if you see someone in distress in the ocean, to call 911 immediately if at an unguarded beach or after lifeguard towers have closed.
