Honolulu EMS, Ocean Safety Respond to Unresponsive Swimmer At China Walls

On October 19th, just before 6:00 p.m., Honolulu Ocean Safety and the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to a 24-year old New York visitor who jumped off the rock ledge at China Walls, hit his head, knocking him unconscious. Surfers quickly paddled to the man, kept him afloat and brought him to shore on their surfboards. EMS and lifeguards arrived within minutes on the initial 911 call. Paramedics began advanced life support and transported the man in critical condition to a trauma center. The surf was said to be estimated at 4-6 foot faces. The Honolulu Emergency Services Department thanks the Good Samaritans for their quick actions in rescuing the man.
